Finding hope in the darkest of days

Warrior Truth: “Don’t worry or surrender to your fear. For you’ve believed in God, now trust and believe in me also.” John 14 v 1 TPT

I am so very heart sore for my country right now. Violent reports dominate every conversation and every platform. I have cried so very much this week. As masses unite to declare enough is enough, to implore our leaders and officials to do more, to do better, there is another battle being waged – an emotional and mental assault which takes peace and trust hostage. Fear and anger have gripped our nation as feeling safe seems out of our reach. Stories of hope seem to be quickly swallowed up by more tragedy. Tears fall and unanswered questions and troubling thoughts unsettle minds and hearts, interrupting lives and stealing joy.

Warrior Tool: Yes, heightened vigilance is important but it does not restore peace and joy. I believe God’s word does and His gracious, unfailing love shown through His ultimate gift of grace, Jesus, can be our comfort, our light and even our hope in dark days if we will let it, if we will trust it.

Prayer: Here we are depressed and downcast. Help us still remember You Lord, as we ponder the place where your glory streams down from mighty mountaintops, lofty and majestic – the mountains of your awesome presence. Our deep need calls out to the deep kindness of your love. A waterfall of weeping sends waves of sorrow over our souls, carrying us away, cascading over us like a thundering cataract. Yet all day long your promises of love God pour over us. Through the darkness, let us sing his songs; let our prayers to God become our life. God, You are our mountain of strength; do not forget us. Do not leave us to suffer this vile oppression from heartless tormentors. So we say to our souls, do not be discouraged, do not be disturbed. Trust instead in God, for we know that You Lord God will breakthrough for us. We will once again have plenty of reasons to praise You. Thank you for your saving grace. Thank you that we have hope and life in You. Amen (Adapted from Psalm 42 – TPT)
